![]() cute.įrogger 2 will see a release this September, and may well enthrall us once it passes beyond the slightly buggy Alpha stage. Visually, the game's only as good as it's PC counterpart and puts almost no stress on the Dreamcast system, but the retro look works for what the game is, and the design of the frogs is just. One involves a Mine Car ride seen from a top view (as is just about all of the game) where Frogger leaps back and forth to avoid spars on the track. Not there's plenty of detail in the visuals, with sweeping cameras and specialty levels that cater well to the Frogger game. Gone are the disorientating camera angles and untextured polygons. Graphically, the game is a million miles away from the awkward and ugly original Frogger 3D. The best is a game that's based on the old Tron light cycles game! Other games include quick multiplayer experiences called Way Back When, Toad Road, Gridlock, Valley Rally, Boxed In, Dock Dash, and Trail Blazer. Some of these are simple Frogger games, but others are takes on old Arcade games with Frogger themes. Having additional characters also translated to an enjoyable story mode, where the characters talk as they make their way to the stronghold of the evil Swampy.Īlso added are rollicking multiplayer modes. The biggest addition is the ability to control characters other than Frogger himself - his hot pink gal toad Lillie will be playable, as will other amphibians Tad, Swampy, Treeby, Wart, Roobie, and Yank. It would be an amazing feat for this game to reach the heights of the Konami arcade classic (and with the damage put on by the last game, it may just have a lot of repentance to do before it reaches that state), but for Frogger fans, the game adds a lot to the series. This is part of the reason why they invented quarters. This is gameplay you knew as a kid, brought hooting and hollering into the future. The graphics may make the game look like any 3D adventure, but once you get your hands on the controls and find that it plays strictly analog, with fast reflexes and rapid tapping taking just as much gameplay skill as jumping on blocks and solving puzzles, you'll see that this skip back to the '80s isn't just a Johnny-come-lately romp. ![]() It's an original Frogger adventure, with gameplay that controls just like the original arcade instead of a knock-off 3D platformer. This game isn't just some Mario clone or soupy Sonic would-be. For one, the Frogger's keeper at Hasbro Interactive shook off the game's original developer and went with a proven team at Interactive Studios, who previously made the enjoyable game Glover. And not just survive - he may even prosper and hop higher than ever. ![]() We all gave up on him surviving that car wreck, but he did.
